Basketball Wales online club registrations is now open for the upcoming 2016/17 season.

 

All club secretaries are advised to register your clubs (SWBA,NWBA and BUCS) by visiting our registrations website

All BW clubs will need to have registered online before any of your players, coaches, officials or team followers can licence for the new season.

 

We anticipate that individual registrations will open on Thursday 1st September.

Wales U18 Men's Captain Alex Koukouravas signs Athletic Scholarship in USA

Basketball Wales U18 Men's Captain and former Cardiff Met Archers player Alex Koukouravas has signed an athletic scholarship with Victory Rock Prep in the United States for the 2016/17 season.

 

Congratulations from everyone at Basketball Wales and good luck for the upcoming season.

Save The Date - Basketball Wales Junior National Team Trials, Sunday 25th September 2016

Basketball Wales are pleased to announce that Trials for next seasons Junior National Teams will take place on Sunday 25th September 2016. 

This will be for U12's U14's U16's and U18's (Boys and Girls) The exact locations and times of all the trials will be updated shortly so please contiune to check our Facebook page and website www.basketballwales.com for further details.

All players should attend the trials that are apporpite for thier age group (e.g. Do not attend a trial for an older catagory, even if you have played up an age group in previous years)

All players atending the trials MUST be licenced with Basketball Wales otherwise you will not be eligible or insured to participate. To register as a player visit www.bwregistrations.com and follow the instructions. Please note that this site will open on 1st September. Please ensure you bring a copy of your licence card with you to the trial. Your unique licence number will be used to communicate with you after the trials have been completed. 

The cost of atending the National Team Trials is £7 per player (Please bring the correct change with you)



FIBA U15 Camp for Girls, Slovenia

U15 international players Maisie Harrhy and Olivia Thompson recently attended the 10th edition of the FIBA U15 Camp for Girls which was held in Postojna, Slovenia.

 

 

Both players were accompanied on the trip by BW Coach Beth Jones who was also participating on the camp to further develop her coaching knowledge and skills.

 

 

This annual event organised by FIBA and the Slovenian Basketball Federation is focused on the development of young female players, coaches and referees and has always provided our attendees with a positive experience.

 

 

Working with other players, coaches and referees from all across Europe, with the shared philosophy of developing female basketball.

 

Basketball Wales would like to extend our thanks FIBA for this great experince for our players and coaches.

 



Basketball Wales National Team Coaching Vacancies 2016-17 Season

Applications are invited for the roles of Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Development Coach for the Wales age group and Senior National Teams, including:

 

U12 boys, U12 girls, U14 boys, U14 girls, U15 boys, U16 boys, U16 girls, U17 boys, U18 Men, U18 Women, U23 Men, U23 Women, Senior Men, Senior Women.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an emerging NGB as we develop players and staff for Welsh National Teams and for the GB programme.

 

Applications are welcome from both experienced coaches and those who are looking to take their first steps in international coaching.

 

All positions are voluntary and for the one-year period, through to the conclusion of their respective FIBA Championship (U16 teams only) and an exciting and innovative new International Competition Programme (all teams) in the summer of 2016.

 

A continuation of the role for a second year is subject to review.

 

Applicants should forward the completed application form together with a covering letter and brief CV by email to LucyWitt@basketballwales.com and copy to Cameron@basketballwales.com by Monday 22nd August 2016.
